Meet Sherrlyn Borkgren

Photography has taken me around the world.

Before creating La La Boudoir, I spent years photographing people and stories throughout the Middle East, Latin America, Cuba, Guatemala, and across the United States. My work has appeared in magazines, newspapers, and international publications, teaching me that every person deserves to be photographed with dignity and respect.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Oregon and a Master's Degree in Visual Communications from Ohio University. During my career I've photographed for publications including People Magazine, Newsweek, Business Insider, World Magazine, Save the Children, Laif in Germany, and many other publications throughout the United States and abroad.

Today, while I still photograph editorial assignments and occasionally teach photography, my greatest joy comes from creating portraits that remind everyday women how beautiful, confident, and extraordinary they truly are.

I believe it matters who photographs you.

Experience matters.

Patience matters.

Knowing how to help someone feel comfortable matters most of all.

Beyond Oregon — Photography With Purpose

Photography has always been more than a profession for me.

Through Laughing Planet Journeys, I lead Photography with Purpose adventures to countries such as Cuba and Guatemala. These small-group journeys combine street photography, cultural exchange, and giving back to local communities.

I believe a camera is much more than a tool for making beautiful photographs. It can open doors, create friendships, tell important stories, and become a way to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Participants are invited to improve their photography while experiencing local culture, meeting remarkable people, and helping communities along the way.
